Personality profiling – time bomb or gold mine?
October 16, 2024

Hello agency recruiters – I know some of you feel like a personality profile included in the recruitment process might as well be a time bomb waiting to explode.
“It’s going to land in the hands of my client and ‘kaboom’ – there goes my placement”.
Is that you? If so, stick with me – let me paint you a very different picture. One where personality profiling goes from time bomb to gold mine, and where your client thanks you for including personality profiling because they are more confident they’ve identified a high performer.
So how do we get from A (time bomb) to B (gold mine)?
It’s all about partnering with an expert in personality profiling who can extract the key information and guide you in how to use it through the rest of the process.
The myths, misunderstandings, misuse and mistakes are all corrected when the expert is involved.
When the expert is involved………..
- WE ALWAYS strongly encourage the hiring manager to wait until the end of the process before making a decision about a candidate, and to do so by combining all sources of data (personality data being only one source)
- WE ALWAYS keep the debrief focused on what’s relevant for success in the role
- WE ALWAYS provide a balanced view of the candidate including strengths and areas for development
- WE ALWAYS encourage hiring managers to take any concerns to the next interview and the reference check
- WE ALWAYS encourage hiring managers to accept that no candidate will be a perfect match for the role
- WE ALWAYS encourage hiring managers to see weaknesses as areas for development once in the role
When you use a great personality profile with an accompanying expert……
- And combine that data with interview, reference check and other skills assessment data – the level of accuracy of the candidate’s fit to the role increases significantly!
- Your ability to articulate an accurate picture of your candidate to your client increases
- Your client feels more comfortable in their selection decision
- Your chances of not only getting a placement but improving your track record of placing high performers increases significantly
- Your drop-out rate reduces meaning you’re not re-filling jobs for free
- Your client retention increases as does your trusted advisor status
