The first appointment focuses on understanding your current concerns, relevant background, and what you are hoping to gain from therapy. This also provides an opportunity to determine whether the approach feels like a good fit for you.
This varies depending on the nature of the difficulties and your goals for therapy. Some people seek short-term support, while others engage in medium-term work focused on longer-standing patterns and difficulties.
My work is formulation-driven and focuses on understanding the patterns and internal pressures maintaining distress, rather than only reducing symptoms. Therapy is thoughtful, collaborative, and tailored to the individual.
